The much-anticipated second installment of 2015 Cook County real property taxes is expected to be available online today at the Cook County Treasurer’s Website around 10am.  What does this mean?  First, it will be very interesting to see the results of the mayor’s property tax increase within Chicago along with the effects of the 2015 triennial reassessment for Chicago properties.  Second, it will mean the end of title indemnity accounts for real estate closings related to the 2015 second  installment tax bill.  This will result in closing cost savings, as there will no longer be fees to establish such accounts and the excess funds that need to be held by the title company to pay the anticipated tax bill are no longer necessary.
